ZDNet has this scoop articlee that says Microsoft may provide free versions of desktop software that are supported by revenues from advertising. Yes right Microsoft wants to do to desktops what google has achieved with the Internet. Ad based revenues have become an attractive source of income these days( that's not the reason I have ad's on my blog) and Microsoft doesn't want to miss the party.
What Would you like? A free Windows software with Ad's or rather the paid one that doesn't bother you with Ad's that run on it?

wow... thats news to me :-) and a good news too... i would def. prefer a "A free Windows software with Ad's", provided these ads are as harmless as google ads... and this way lots of people (read: who can't afford to buy windows) will get computer access...
And i think a Windows like that would choke every minute making you go crazy thinking better pay than take it free.
