A Cricketing nation on the rise

The Ongoing test match between Bangladesh and Australia has made the cricketing fraternity around the world to wake up and take a look at the new power that's rising in the subcontinent. So far, after two days of cricket the match has been clearly dominated by Bangladesh and might be the biggest upset if Bangladesh continue on to win.Bangladesh has had odd victories in ODI's now and then, but nothing significant as yet in the longer version of the game.

What would be more relishing for the Bangladeshi fans is the fact that the man who leads Australia in this Test match is the one who commented that Bangladesh doesnt deserve Test status. The Bangladeshi's have given a fitting reply to the questions that Ponting had. This match is being played for pride more than anything else.
Who else would the Bangladeshi's need to trigger the downfall of Australia than whatmore, the man who masterminded the srilankan victory against Australia in the 1996 Worldcup. The Bangladeshi's now have a thinking coach and players willing to work hard, that is a good combination for any nation to have.

Australia definitely has the resillence to come on top from a situation like this. Like the little david said "If Goliath is that big", "then he's too big to miss! that is the spirit with which the Bangladeshi's have continued to play so far and irrespective of what happens in the next few days, this match has proved that a cricketing nation is in the rising and is also a testimony to the self belief that has brought them along since they stepped foot on the International scene 6 years ago.

Dilbert at work

ills of having a Non technical Project Manager

PM ( Project coordinator) sees a ad on a website for a new IT App.

Sets up a webcast for team members and other PM's to attend saying this might be important for the improving efficiency in the future.

After the webcast, the product seller flashes a number to call if we needed a more technical presentation. At this point most don't understand why this product would be important and why they were invited

Somebody asks the PM 'so why did you think we should do this?'

PM says she just thought the ad was nice and the ad said the product had many user's, new technology blah blah... so she thought someone might want to use it, and she wasn't really interested in the first case.

Everybody leaves shaking their head.

Milan Mania

Fighters till the end they are, they don't accept defeat even if they have just a minute left to fight. Yes, I am talking about AC Milan which clawed back from the Jaws of defeat against Lyon in the dying minutes. Led by Maldini the club has one of the most admired captain and the character that symbolises the club itself. Lyon is by no means a push over, and they proved it by matching move to move against Milan in their match yesterday. They were one of the title favourites and they had everything going right for them until the last minute.Heroes are born during times of adversity and Milan had two of their own in the form of Andriy Shevchenko and Fillipo Inzaghi. With just a minute away from elimination, Milan struck leaving Lyon and its fans heartbroken. The architect of the Victory, Andriy has been the terrific scorer as usual for Milan and has delivered whenever the team has looked up to him. He is now the leading scorer of the tournament at 52 goals to his name. Just one mistake in the final moment and Lyon is on the losing side, they will not forget this defeat but may have to wait atleast one year before they have a chance to have a go at Milan again.

Milan almost had the champions trophy last year, when they were 3 goals up against Liverpool during half time and then suddenly like the phoenix, Liverpool rose from the ashes to script the most remarkable victory in the final of a Champions league game defeating Milan. They have not forgotten that defeat and this victory of theirs only proves their determination and the will to be the Champions again.

Milan is not my most favourite club, but its players have the qualities that every club would like to see in its players. Never giving up trying even in bad times and always ready to face challenges. The mission is not over for Milan as they face the winner of Barcelona/Benificia (which most people think would be Barcelona). That would be another classical to watch, the fiercest attackers in the League against the most dependable defense. There is not much difference in the quality of the two teams each led by their own champions in shevchenko the European footballer of the year in 2005 and Ronaldinho, World footballer of the year in 2005. If at all there is a difference it has to be the strength of the Milan's defense, Barcelona may not have the same kind of experience in the defense as Milan, but when Ronaldinho is playing upfront you never know what could happen.

A beautiful world

What a beautiful picture isn't it. Ever wondered In a beautiful world with everything to live for, Why do people die of hunger?

Jonathan swift once said "Poor nations are hungry, and rich nations are proud; and pride and HUNGER will ever be at variance." and how do we end this variance, by creating some awareness about it. This link to care will help you just do that Get Involved.

For those who cannot be directly involved, we could just be a little conservative in wasting the resources and food we get everyday. Because like Franklin said “When the well is dry, they know the worth of water".

Tell me,In a beautiful world with everything to live for, Why do people die of hunger?

Take back the Net

In one of my earlier Articles, I had written about Spywares and Adwares. Today in this article i will give information on internet crimes that you will find very intresting.

It is a fact that the useful life of some of the Spam domains can be less than a single day upto a maximum of 12 days, some of these domains exist for as little as 3 hours. This is not surprising as Verisign reports that Year over year, new .com domain registrations grew by 28 percent, and new .net domain registrations grew by 21 percent. In that time they exist, these Domains are used to send out millions of Spam messages, mostly using Bot nets. This makes things difficult for softwares to track some of these spam domains and block the messages. Some of these domains still exist, but they are not used for Spamming anymore. The year 2005 has seen more spams than 2004 and some of the new techniques adopted by spammers only makes things difficult for the security companies to block them.

Phishing is still an major threat and it's prevalence has only increased in 2005. A phishing attack is a confidence trick that uses email spam to spread. In computer security terms, it is a “social engineering” attack. It was estimated that 1 in every 304 emails during 2005 was a phishing attempt. A new trend in phishing is called Spear Phishing. In Spear phishing criminals bombard businesses with highly targeted spam that appears as though it has originated from inside the organization, typically from the IT or HR departments. Often, the perpetrator will offer a small reward in return for information and individuals who are duped into thinking the emails are legitimate often comply. They unwittingly reveal information that will enable the criminal to access secure areas of the corporate network which can result in the theft of intellectual property and other sensitive corporate data.

Pharming is an alternative technique that does not try to fool people through fake email messages, or spy on users through malware. Instead, this technique fools your computer into connecting you to a fake Web site even when you enter the correct domain name information into your browser.
Like phishing attacks, an attacker sets up a capture site to collect identity information. But unlike a phishing attack, this technique does not require the user to follow a link in a fake email message. Instead, this technique exploits vulnerabilities in DNS servers to distribute fake address information.

Convergence is a trend seen not only in networking world but also in the internet crime world. Increasingly, techniques such as phishing are being used as a bait for people opening malware. This is a bad trend from a user stand point as you are susceptible to a multiple pronged attack from a single source. Some Virus threats now, are not just limited to your PC, but rather your mobile devices are under threat too.

Internet commerce frauds are increasing , and top on that list is US counting for 84.9% of the fraudulent transactions.
The worse thing you could imagne is a vendor losing data of millions of its customers, and that happened galore in 2005. Just to name a few, several different large companies lost (or sold) detailed personal information about millions of people. Most notoriously, Choicepoint revealed that it had sold personal information on 400,000 Americans to a criminal ring engaged in identity theft, and Reed Elsevier (a subsidiary of Lexis Nexis) allowed information on 310,000 people to be accessed fraudulently. Bank of America lost a backup tape containing names and credit card numbers for 1.2 million government employees. This is not the end of the list ,but just a few.

And finally read this , filmy style hijacking - New Trojan holds files for ransom

I wonder why even with all these things around, the usage of Internet among people is only growing.
