Milan Mania

Fighters till the end they are, they don't accept defeat even if they have just a minute left to fight. Yes, I am talking about AC Milan which clawed back from the Jaws of defeat against Lyon in the dying minutes. Led by Maldini the club has one of the most admired captain and the character that symbolises the club itself. Lyon is by no means a push over, and they proved it by matching move to move against Milan in their match yesterday. They were one of the title favourites and they had everything going right for them until the last minute.Heroes are born during times of adversity and Milan had two of their own in the form of Andriy Shevchenko and Fillipo Inzaghi. With just a minute away from elimination, Milan struck leaving Lyon and its fans heartbroken. The architect of the Victory, Andriy has been the terrific scorer as usual for Milan and has delivered whenever the team has looked up to him. He is now the leading scorer of the tournament at 52 goals to his name. Just one mistake in the final moment and Lyon is on the losing side, they will not forget this defeat but may have to wait atleast one year before they have a chance to have a go at Milan again.

Milan almost had the champions trophy last year, when they were 3 goals up against Liverpool during half time and then suddenly like the phoenix, Liverpool rose from the ashes to script the most remarkable victory in the final of a Champions league game defeating Milan. They have not forgotten that defeat and this victory of theirs only proves their determination and the will to be the Champions again.

Milan is not my most favourite club, but its players have the qualities that every club would like to see in its players. Never giving up trying even in bad times and always ready to face challenges. The mission is not over for Milan as they face the winner of Barcelona/Benificia (which most people think would be Barcelona). That would be another classical to watch, the fiercest attackers in the League against the most dependable defense. There is not much difference in the quality of the two teams each led by their own champions in shevchenko the European footballer of the year in 2005 and Ronaldinho, World footballer of the year in 2005. If at all there is a difference it has to be the strength of the Milan's defense, Barcelona may not have the same kind of experience in the defense as Milan, but when Ronaldinho is playing upfront you never know what could happen.
