I remember a story from my school days. I dont remember who wrote it,but sure it was an Indian author. The story line goes like this
A child, lets name him ramu (say 5 yrs) and his parents go to a fair. The fair was one of the biggest and largest that their village and the neighbouring ones had ever seen. It had everything that kids wanted, not to mention that it all came at a cost. Ramu's father(Mani) was only a farmer, so he did not have enough money to buy all that Ramu asked for. As they are passing through a store, Ramu sees a baloon and starts crying for it, but mani does not have enough cash to buy the baloon for Ramu. He tries to console Ramu but Ramu persists and keeps crying for a long time. So now Mani, gives Ramu two good blows and takes ramu away from that store. Now after some time Ramu sees a Candy store and starts crying again, poor Mani has already spent most of his money for travel and could not afford the candies either, so ramu gets the same treatment again. The same thing happens at the toy store and at the circus.Ramu starts complaining that he has no joy in coming to the fair as he is not getting anything he wants.
One passage of the fair is really crowded and as Ramu and his parents are passing through it, Ramu happens to get seperated.Ramu starts looking for his parents, but he is only a small child and being unable to find them he starts crying. A good old man (say ravi) spots ramu crying and offers to help him. They search for a while but cant find Ramu's parents yet.Ramu continues to keep crying and in an effort to appease ramu, ravi offers to buy a baloon for ramu. Its the same baloon that Ramu had wanted a few minutes ago, but now he does not want it and keeps crying "Enakku Amma than venum ..."( i need my mother only). They move on and now come before the candy shop. Ravi offers to buy the best candies in the shop for ramu, but as expected he gets the same reply from ramu "Enakku Amma than venum ...".The same happens at the Toy store and Circus. Unable to find Ramu parents till now, Ravi takes the help of the Police in the Fair and they make announcements about the lost child.Hearing the Announcement Ramu's parents who have already been searching for him, rush to the police booth in the fair.On seeing his parents Ramu stops crying and runs toward them and hugs them.Happy at having found his son again Mani offers to buy the baloon for him, this time too Ramu rejects it.He is already too joyous having found his parents and then they leave the fair happily. There ends the story.
Do you feel like Ramu too?, Living in another country far away from your Family and Friends.I want to know if i am the only one feeling so.
